Kolar group of companies started its operations in the year 1960 under the dynamic leadership of Mohammed Ali Ayamon. It was a small firm having the dealership of roofing tiles at the time of its inception. The proactive and visionary plans of the management helped the company to diversify its activities in to new areas depending upon the demands and tastes of the customers.

In the late sixties when the demand for concrete buildings increased, the company added another division - cement and steal dealership - to its existing roofing tiles dealership. In 1982 the group started a new enterprise called ‘Malappuram Trade Links’, which was mainly into the business of paints, hardware, tiles and sanitary. As a result of the ever-growing demand for tiles, an exclusive showroom for tiles, Johnson Ceramic Centre’ was started in the year 1992. It is still in the business as the number one tiles dealers of Malappuram. It has two branches in Malappuram And Kondotty.

The multiplying requirement for building materials in the late nineties persuaded the group to thing about new avenues for operations. Finally the group decided to expand its activities into production side also. As a first step it started Kolar Plastic Industries, Anakkayam for producing its raw materials. And now it is also planning its own polythene pre-processing unit in Paloorkotta Industrial Estate.
